Our History
Over the years, our work has taken many forms. While our focus has evolved, the breadth of projects we’ve been part of has shaped the way we think about buildings, communities, and the people who use them every day.
In earlier chapters, we partnered with business owners and developers on commercial spaces ranging from offices and retail to restaurants and mixed-use environments. These projects were often about identity and energy — helping brands come to life through space while creating environments that felt intuitive, efficient, and welcoming.
For more than two decades, we also worked alongside churches and ministry leaders as they planned for growth. From thoughtful renovations to multi-phase campus expansions, these projects centered on listening carefully and translating mission and community values into spaces for gathering, learning, and connection.
Our portfolio extended to civic and community facilities as well, supporting local agencies and public-serving organizations. These projects carried a strong sense of responsibility and required careful coordination, accountability, and long-term thinking.
Along the way, we also designed custom high-end residential homes, collaborating closely with families to create spaces that felt personal and enduring.
Much of this work was completed during our years as part of Lyman Davidson Dooley, when the firm’s collective portfolio also included education and recreation projects across multiple offices. While not all of those project types originated from our Nashville studio, they contributed to a broader foundation of experience that continues to inform our perspective today.
Across each sector, we learned how buildings shape experience — how thoughtful planning supports operations, how environments influence well-being, and how design can strengthen the communities they serve. Over time, those lessons naturally guided us toward a more focused path. The operational complexity, long-term impact, and human-centered nature of healthcare design drew us in — and ultimately became the area where our experience and passion aligned most clearly.
