As Founder and President of Hereford Dooley Architects, Trip Hereford sets the vision that guides the firm — shaping its culture, its client relationships, and its long-term direction. That vision is rooted in meaningful collaboration, innovative thinking, and responsible design that improves the lives of the people and communities the firm serves.
Trip has extensive experience leading healthcare and commercial projects of varying scale and complexity, with a focus on balancing design quality, functionality, and value. His leadership emphasizes trust, responsiveness, and a collaborative approach that supports both strong project outcomes and lasting partnerships.
Since co-founding the firm in 2014, Trip has remained committed to advancing its mission and building a foundation strong enough to carry that vision into future generations — a commitment reflected in a culture built on service, integrity, generosity, learning, and improvement (SIGLI).
Tom Dooley
Founder, Emeritus | Legacy & Foundation
Tom Dooley is a founding leader of Hereford Dooley Architects and dedicated more than four decades to the practice of architecture. Throughout his career, he built a reputation for thoughtful design, strong client relationships, and the mentorship of future generations of architects.
Tom helped lay the foundation the firm still stands on today, shaping the culture and values that continue to guide its work — a foundation built on integrity, service, and a genuine commitment to improving our communities.
Although retired from daily practice, Tom continues to serve on the Board of Directors, offering the guidance, perspective, and institutional knowledge gained through a lifetime of professional experience. His influence remains present in the firm's people, its projects, and its unwavering commitment to service.
Marry Rutland
Vice President, Organizational Development | Alignment & Stewardship
As Vice President of Organizational Development, Marry Rutland ensures the firm's strategy, culture, and operations stay aligned with its founding vision and foundation — keeping Hereford Dooley Architects moving purposefully toward its goals.
Her organizational development work focuses on strengthening both the internal aspects of the firm — its people, culture, and human resources — and its external presence through marketing and brand. Her leadership pairs thoughtful judgment with data-informed insight to guide decisions around culture and operations, drive meaningful policy and practice changes, and support lasting growth across the firm's people and work.
Marry has been with the firm for more than 20 years. As a Board member and Owner, she is committed to stewarding a culture where people can thrive, relationships are valued, and the firm's work reflects its SIGLI core values.
